Privacy Policy
Reel Tidy collects no data about you. Not anonymized data, not aggregate data, not crash reports, not usage statistics. This is not a promise layered on top of an app that could collect something — there is no code in Reel Tidy capable of sending anything anywhere.
Data we collect
None. Our App Privacy declaration on the Mac App Store is Data Not Collected across every category, and that is a complete description of what the app does.
Specifically, Reel Tidy contains:
- No networking code of any kind — no HTTP client, no sockets, nothing that opens a connection.
- No analytics or telemetry.
- No crash reporting service.
- No third-party SDKs whatsoever.
- No account, no login, no cloud service, no server we operate.
Because there is no networking code, there is no mechanism by which your data could reach us even accidentally.
Your photos and video
Reel Tidy copies files from a source you pick to a library folder you pick. Both are on your own storage — a card, a drive, a folder, a network share you have mounted. Your files never pass through us, and they never leave the drives you point the app at.
Reel Tidy reads metadata inside your files, such as capture date, time, timezone offset, and camera model and serial number, in order to sort and name them. That reading happens entirely on your Mac. Nothing about it is recorded or transmitted.
The app only ever copies. It does not delete anything from your source card or drive.
File access
Reel Tidy is sandboxed by macOS. It can only reach folders you have explicitly granted it through the system file picker — it cannot browse your disk on its own.
So you don't have to re-grant the same folders every launch, those grants are remembered using security-scoped bookmarks stored in the app's own local preferences on your Mac. They stay on your machine and are never transmitted. Removing the app removes them.
Links out of the app
The About window contains a link to our studio site, rischio.studio. Following it hands off to your default browser. That is a link, not data collection — but once you are in your browser, that site's own terms apply rather than this policy.
Bug reports
Support for Reel Tidy runs through GitHub Issues. Filing a report is entirely voluntary and separate from using the app.
Anything you post there is public. Please do not include personal information. Debug logs from Reel Tidy can contain file paths, folder names, and volume names, so give yours a skim before you attach it. What you choose to post is handled under GitHub's privacy policy as well as this one, and you can ask us to remove an issue you filed.
Children
Reel Tidy collects nothing from anyone, of any age.
Changes to this policy
If this policy ever changes, the revised version will be posted at this address with a new date at the top. Since the app collects nothing, we expect changes to be rare, and any change that involved collecting data would be described here plainly before it shipped.
